Colleges at Post-16
KAFEC's Further Education Colleges provide an alternative post-16 destination for school leavers, offering both academic and vocational subjects in most cases. Under the Government's new inspection framework 16-18 provision in colleges will now be inspected by OFSTED and adult provision (19+) by the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI).
KAFEC is keen that parents and school leavers are fully informed as to the options at post-16. For some schools may be the right place but for many more colleges offer a realistic alternative and a far wider range of high quality options.
The Government is particularly encouraging more collaborative approaches at a local level between colleges and school sixth forms making attendance at both and access to a wider curriculum possible in some cases.
