KEY STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

The following seven Strategic Prioirities have been agreed between the Principals:

Meet the changing needs of the local learning community

Respond to the challenges of the national agenda and support local learners of all ages to access the appropriate pathways to further education/training/higher education and employment, delivering the skills training needed to meet the needs of the local economy.

Drive up the Quality of Provision and improve performance

Aspire to excellence by adopting a leading role in self regulation, peer referencing and shared best practice. This will also include a focus on equality and diversity, learner well being, social cohesion and social mobility.

Strengthen and support a First Class Workforce

Develop a common workforce strategy to support the delivery of excellent teaching and learning, identifying generic areas of professional development which can be delivered collaboratively across county.

Improve Employer Engagement

Increase profile of KAFEC colleges with employers through focusing on flexibility and delivery.  Further develop employer relationships through collaborative working in the delivery of shared programmes, sharing best practice, and maximising available funding or financial opportunities.

Promote progression pathways to Higher Education

Continue to support the further education learners by providing appropriate support and guidance to enable them to maximise their full potential through progression into Higher Education, where appropriate.

Strengthen the KAFEC brand and influence

Increase the profile and reputation of FE in Kent and Medway; raise awareness of the KAFEC partnership with major stakeholders and support greater interaction between Network Groups and with relevant external bodies/partners.

Deliver a high quality and cost efficient estate

Work collaboratively on the delivery of a coherent estates strategy, exploring opportunities for shared services/premises, efficiency gains and value for money opportunities.
